The atoll has 13 inhabited islands, the center of which is Mandhoo with about 1,600 people. Its larger towns are: Holhudhoo and Velidhoo (approx. 2,000 inhabitants). There are currently only three resort islands on the atoll.

 

Diving: as there are only a few hotels in the Atoll, it is also one of the least busy diving locations. Its central lagoon is 73 meters deep. In the stronger currents, it is common to see sharks and rays hunting the smaller fish living near the reefs. The smaller reefs in the lagoon offer a beautiful view of the large number of colorful parrotfish. Its best dive sites: Fushi Kandu, Maamendhoo Giri, Munnafushi Kandu
